EQJ - Job training and educational planning

Research area

Training and educational planning

Short description

The aim of the EQJ (traineeship stipendiums for inexperienced young workers) is to help unqualified young people with little prospect of finding traineeships to be trained at businesses that have not done job training in the past, in such a way that these young people gain initial vocational qualifications that enable them to enter the job market. The long term traineeships offered are intended to give young workers who have heretofore been unable to find a traineeship position the opportunity to acquire marketable skills. However, thus far efforts to broker such traineeships have had difficulty getting off the ground. First, finding trainees and businesses whose interests and affinities match has proven to be an arduous process. Secondly, owing to lack of information, some employers are reluctant to take on inexperienced and unqualified young people as trainees. In addition, implementation of such a program requires a certain amount of preliminary work. EQJ stipendiums are being offered in order to provide support in this realm.

Aims

The EQJ stipendiums offered are intended to make the new EQJ instrument for young people and the businesses that train them more transparent, promote acceptance of such young workers as trainees, and elaborate intelligent strategies for matching up businesses and trainees.

The stipendiums are also intended to provide job counselors with tools that ease the task of finding positions for EQJ candidates. Toward this end, a pilot Internet portal will offer EQJ services in Nuremberg, while at the time allowing for information sharing, publicizing EQJ, and providing general information about EQJ.
