NeWorkers - New Models for the Enhancement of Open Distance Learning-Use in Life Long Learning of Workers - The Experiance Approach

Research area

Internationalization of vocational training

Short description

In the framework of European Programmes and initiatives, there have been projects and actions developed with the purpose of improving the processes of professional training to enterprises and workers, of improving the pedagogical skills of trainers and of providing with flexible training systems using Internet technologies.

Those projects have, without any doubt, fostered the application of different methodologies and approaches using new information and communication technologies as tools for continuous training.

This new perspective in continuous training is generating, at a European level, extensive fields of development and actions, but on the other hand, they are arising certain worries concerning their suitability of application, feasibility of development, management problems as well as possible uses.

On the other hand, a lot of investments done are based on models constructed from the technology, attracted by the increasing technological “boom”.

However, there is a patent lack of reference material about advantages, disadvantages, recommendations and orientations in all issues involved in the implementation of distance learning based on the web (costs, profits, improvements in training and learning, new roles of agents involved, as well as lacks, needs and systems to fulfil them, coexistence with other training methods...) focused to the enterprise workers (managers and workers).

In this sense, the integration and exchange of methodologies and experiences between projects already developed at European level in this topic, as well as with researches being carried out nowadays, will allow the generation of different reference materials on a European scale for training organisers and human resources managers in companies and for academic and political decision-makers

Aims

The main goal of this project is the setting up of an authentic forum for debate, discussion, promotion and dissemination around the topic of the uses of Internet as a tool for continuous training, through the experiences at European level of different previous projects and actions carried out in Leonardo and Socrates. This forum must generate reference for the promotion of open and distance training through Internet.
