Internationalization of vocational training

Short description

Within the specific objectives of the European education and training policy a key role is assigned to the aim of supporting trainees in achieving and valuing knowledge, competences and qualifications to foster their personal development, employability and participation to the European labour market. In this context the promotion of transparency and the acquisition/recognition of competences and qualifications through the integration of macro-level policies and tools (EQF and ECVET implementation) and the proper use of devices adopted by the European Commission, such as europass portfolio is stressed. The project europass+2 will transfer the outcomes of the europass+ project to other countries and new settings.
An on line tool has been designed and tested and is already working in several languages, aiming at supporting young people in valuing their own experiences, self recognising their technical, social and personal competences and making learning achievements visible, independent from where and how they have been acquired. The tool helps the people to document informally acquired competences in the Europass CV and thereby improves their crossnational transparency. It helps users of the Europass CV to self-reflect, by using self-reflection aids that already exist in very different forms and with different priorities in the framework of national competence passport initiatives. The tool should allow users to write down meaningful information on their own informally acquired competences in a way that is understandable throughout Europe, with a maximum expenditure of several hours and without needing to consult experts.

Aims

The project europass+2 focuses two areas of specific objectives:

  • Foster the transparency and the acknowledgement of competences and qualifications through the combination and development of devices and tools available at European level to specific sectors (in this direction the project will choose some professional sector to test in a proper and representative way the functionality of the model);
  • Improve and adapt the existing model, looking for solutions targeted not only to the youngsters, but mainly to adult, low qualified workers and job seekers, intended as the principle disadvantaged component of the workforce, in such a critical economic phase.

In this sense the project aims at fostering the usability of Europass, particularly thinking at the conditions needed to develop a mutual trust between companies and job seekers about the use of the Europass CV, intended as a recognised mean to describe competences in terms of learning outcomes. Focusing on the formal, non-formal and informal acquisition, making them transparent, readable, transferable also for different purposes and to give value to work experiences.
