europass+ - An online support tool for the Europass CV

Research area

Internationalization of vocational training

Short description

This project develops and test a tool which assists in the documentation of informally acquired skills in the Europass CV, thus improving transparency across the countries included within this scheme.  The tool is based on the categories for the documentation of (amongst others) informally acquired skills given in the Europass CV template.  It encourages self-reflection on the part of the user of the Europass CV form and thus connects with the self-reflection aids which already exist in various forms and with various emphases within national skill passport schemes.
A prototype is being developed which:

  • can be included in an expanded online help system for the Europass CV and/or made available on national sites;
  • significantly improves the completeness with which informally acquired skills can be documented by means of appropriate subcategorisation, examples and suggestions;
  • describes these skills in terms of the levels of the European Qualifications Framework (EQF);
  • does not damage the intended simplicity of the Europass system;
  • is also easy to use for users without above-average levels of literacy.

The product is being developed in a trans-national partnership of training experts.  By means of surveys of trainees and training and HR managers in companies in the participating countries, it is being investigated whether the information included is adequately comprehensible, concise and relevant.

Aims

To increase the awareness of young European employees of the results of informal learning.The online tool allows users to put into writing useful information which can be understood across Europe about their informally acquired skills, without major time expenditure or the need for additional support.
