Occupational Health and Safety is an important issue in the European eco-industry. There are about 2.5 Million people working in the fields of solid waste management, recycling, waste water treatment, air pollution control, soil and groundwater remediation and noise control in the EU-25. Those people facing specific risks related to their work, like physical stress, noise exposure and handling chemicals, which may have negative effects to employability and their ability to work. The workers should have the competencies required to meet the Health and Safety challenges related to their work.
Existing training material in the field of occupational Health and Safety are not able to communicate the required skills for the direct and indirect relevant people. At the time, there are no adequate curricula in this field, which face the needs of the specific workforce. The Leonardo da Vinci multilateral project THESEIS seeks to close that gap. Within a consortium of eight participating countries, the aim is to develop eLearning training material regarding Health and Safety issues, with respect to the legal issues, the deployed technology and working process in the eco-industry, to communicate the required skills to the workforce.
The aim of the European joint project is to define, create, prove and disseminate eLearning material for the different groups of employed persons in the eco-industry concerning occupational Health and Safety.
The sub-ordinated targets are as follows:
